Honest and Calm

“First impressions last but last impressions comes first when you thought of them”

It is important to give a good impression on the first meeting but it is best to leave a good final impression. That’s what I want to achieve as I stepped in the classroom of one Grade 7 class for the last time as their temporary teacher. I made sure to be as ready as I am for the students to engage and participate and they didn’t fail me. The class from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm went by very smoothly. The students were cheerful when I entered the classroom and they looked excited when I began speaking. Although I didn’t expect to teach on this day as I thought it is still with their teacher (my CT), the schedule was adjusted for me to be able to teach all the sections of grade 7. I was rushing from the public school I am in at the moment and into the private school. I am nervous but the students made me feel at ease and it is a very memorable session, final session rather.

3:00 pm came and I immediately entered the second class who immediately greeted me and the students were all saying how they missed me and such which is very heart warming because I never though a student will even miss me. The class went smoothly as usual but at the same time, the learners of this class is still the same chaotic bunch of kids I met during my first teaching in their class. However, what I noticed was that the noise I am hearing are them brainstorming and sharing answers with their seatmate as they are eager to recite as well. I am so happy that I managed to deliver very well as it is my last time with their class.

In the end, I was overwhelmed and relieved that I am few steps towards my final demo and also a closer step towards my teaching in the public school. This day tire me up but the smiles and the words of encouragement from the classes I handled made me think that maybe I can step out of the professional zone some other time.
