To critique is not to criticize.
For this day, April 13, 2023, the class of Grade 11 will be learning how to write a critique paper and to write one as their final output for the third quarter. During the first period, my fellow ST conducted the first lecture for the said topic as I observed like usual and I noticed that her ppt improved and it has gone from wordy with small fonts to a less wordy and bigger fonts. I also manged to follow the flow of the lesson and after it, I was shocked when my fellow ST offered for me to try and teach the last section to which I didn’t refuse to.
After that, I again handled the one of the two sections of Grade 12 for them to continue with their viewing and writing activity and it went smoother than before as the students seemed to be more serious in taking notes.
At exactly 1:00 pm, I went to the second section of grade 12 for the same activity as the previous one which is to watch and take notes. Considering the fact that the students are maybe tired of writing, they still managed to have a small conversation with me regards their plans for their college university.
Finally, the time for me to teach for the first time comes and it even had a small mishap before because the classroom that the students will use was occupied and so we have to move and in doing so, we didn’t know that the first classroom is already available making us go back to it and in the end drove the students kinda cranky. However, after we begin, I don’t know if I managed to establish my place as their teacher at that moment. I answered questions and explained the lesson further, I even used the Filipino language to explain in a more understandable manner. I don’t know how I managed to pull that off during my first time teaching.
Never underestimate, that has been my motto ever since I entered the course of teaching because I always know that what will happen is not always according to plans and so, whenever I am inside the classroom, I tend to assume the worst outcome making me do my best and I don’t know if that works or not but nevertheless, I pulled off a good performance this day.
