21st Century Literature, a course I remember loving when I was in Senior High School and I remember acing it and I am glad that I will now have the chance to teach it.
Tuesday, April 12, 2023 at 8:30 am in the morning, I was able to conduct an observation on the classes that were assigned to my Cooperating Teacher. This section consists of students that I think were calm and enthusiastic as when lessons were presented, they look eager to recite and participate. In my opinion, they seem manageable with the skill level I have but still, I don’t think I still got the hang of this because I’m still in the shadows of how things work.
9:15 am is when I was asked to look out for one of the section as they will soon be the classes I will be handling and of course, I agreed as I also want to meet them and for them to meet me. The class I got into was assigned a refresher or a review for the upcoming examination so what they did was to watch a video lesson as they take notes of the important details and points from the video. I just stayed back to monitor their progress and at the same time, to collect their notebooks for checking to see their progress in their writing. The experience was fun and the studens were chill with me around and even joked around a few times.

1:00 in the afternoon, I was sent to another class of same grade as the recent class I monitored that morning which is Grade 12. They also had the sane task but this time, I brought their notebooks to my CT and unlike the previous class, my CT will check their notebooks.

2:00 pm. I wasn’t able to catch the first few minutes of the class as I just got back from the previous one but I managed to catch up with the presentation of the main point. This class is still as chaotic as I remembered when I first began my observation that despite them being called out, they seem to have no understanding and still disobey. It concerns me because they are not getting the main point of the lesson and it could backfire during their activity. However, in the end, I was told that they are actually smart, they just have a short span of attention.

3:15 pm. The last class that I will be assigned to in the future where there are more than 50 students present. I was told that they can be manageable but for that to happen, the teacher must get the flow of their current. I am nervous because I know in myself that I am having a hard time flowing in a current. However, the class performance was better than I expected as their paperworks showed.
At the end of the day, I just realized how this internship had just gotten harder from before and not only because I am dealing with a more mature audience but also, I am dealing with an environment I’m not used to, which requires another set of adjustment but then, this is something I have to overcome to succeed.
