Slay

“Make today a SLAY”

Alright so slay is a slang for like “I’m impressed” or “wow, impressive”. I used it before as an abbreviation to present my rules and on March 14, 2023, I printed the word out in small strips of paper and used it as a recitation point for the learners. I started at 8:00 am in one section and I can tell you, they love to receive those small strips of paper as every question I ask them, they have their arms raised to recite and whenever I missed giving one a strip of paper, they will ask me for one. I never realized till now how they value small things. They are all so active and participative that even those ones whom I don’t see recite often will raise their hands to be called. I hope I did a good job with their review as I am not sure if those in my practice are really helpful for their exam because I literally just compiled all the lessons in one session. I think I almost ran out of small cards that after their session is done, I am almost out of small cards and I still have one more section for today.

Next is at 10:20 am and this section was the one I felt intimidated with since day one but today, with the small cards I have, I felt like they became like their age. They are so excited as well to have those small cards in their hold and also, I can feel their eagerness to answer as when we had the activity where we answered as a class, they are so enthusiastic in reciting their answers and when they got it right, they look proud.

“After learning about ________, I feel ______ for my third quarter exam.”

I asked them to complete the sentence and their answers made me feel like I have accomplished something because they all said that they feel ready, they feel confident or they feel powered up. Although some of them still feel nervous and unprepared, I think from their answers of how they will prepare, they will nail it well.
