I grew up in a school where the teacher yells to students if they’re being so noisy and chaotic and it worked but on this era, yelling is no longer an option nor a choice if you want to get the student’s attention.
Morning of February 16, 2023, I had my first ever actual teaching in the Homeroom Guidance subject of the students in Grade 7 and I was impressed at my performance despite my shaking knees. For the first time, I got to interact with learners and for the first time, I got to actually discuss and manage a class. I saw how the students can’t be calmed down with a loud voice but maybe they’re so kind that when I repeat the same phrase to quiet down louder, they followed. I was nervous but I did it. My CT’s feedback really helped me see where I need to improve in and to be honest, I thought we will be staying in his office for so long because I need to improve in a lot of things but surprisingly, he congratulated me because apparently, I did a good job. He just told me to improve in some areas like a acknowledging student’s answers and to be more graceful in front of the class. I am hoping that next time, I will be told that I improved on that area.
Well, the day went on very well because I also attended my CREED class in the afternoon and managed to pass the day with an achievement within me and that is the fact that I now can tell myself, I have a potential to teach ๐.
