One Direction

“Seek and you shall find; ask and it will be given unto you”

On February 06, 2023 I got at SMU Junior High and Science High School at 7:00 am for the beginning of my teaching internship. The campus is not as huge as the college campus but it seems so big to me because I just knew this campus and for the first time, I really get to go around and in the buildings not only on the grounds. I have a problem though because when I got there, I have no idea where to go or where to stay so I did the first thing in my mind, ask my classmates and thankfully, I was given the answer of where to stay but I don’t know how to get there. I turn to the campus layout that’s posted in one of the buildings but it didn’t help. Fortunately for me, a fellow Student-Teacher came to my aid and she showed me to where we would be staying.

I’m not good at memorizing landmarks, or directions or faces or even people and so I tried to really improve on it but failed many times. After the flag ceremony, some of my classmates went to find their cooperating teacher but because I have no idea where mine is, I stayed back with one of my fellow student teacher who then showed me where to find my cooperating teacher. I spoke with my cooperating teacher about basic stuff to learn like his schedule and the start of our observations. After that, I went back to the classroom for us and stayed there with my classmates until lunch time.

After I ate lunch, I went back to the college campus for my 1:30 classes where we had our reporting and right after that, I went back to the JHS/SHS campus where I again spoke with my cooperating teacher along with my fellow Student-Teacher who is also under the same CT as I am and thankfully for me, she’s more well spoken and I felt at ease that at least in this journey, I have company. We managed to set our schedules for our teaching and I managed to snatch 4 hours with two sections, two science sections to be specific driving me shaking to the core. I know I am not confident with my teaching skills online but I am yet to discover how I will manage face to face.

The path to my life is a rocky road but if I will lean on the direction that will lead me to my success, I believe I won’t have a worry in the future for losing my direction. We all have our paths and on this day, I learn that in our paths, we can also be lost or confused and that’s why we really need to ask for directions one of these days.
