January 20, 2023 is the day we were given an activity to test our knowledge in our chosen field of expertise. We were divided in accordance to our field of study and one by one, we were given one minute to discuss to the class a certain topic that was randomly assigned to us. In my seat, I tried to answer the questions for my classmates in my head and I feel less nervous when I got almost the right answers in most questions. However, when it was my turn, my mind decided to abandon me.
“Differentiate direct speech and reported speech”. That was my task and I literally said nothing and completely gave up on trying to speak. I couldn’t even imagine how my teacher was feeling if she were to see me at that moment because during that one minute, I only feel shame and embarrassment and at the last second, I finally am able to realize the answer. At the last second, I am able to give an answer to myself unfortunately and at the last moment, along with embarrassment and shame, I felt anger towards myself.
This made me realize that despite being in school for so long, I don’t think I know enough to be able to step out into the real world.
